First we find money where you are already spending it

Before building new generation, it is worth understanding how your current energy costs are actually built. Very often the first result requires no investment at all.

01

About this practice

A consumer pays far more for electricity than they could, and cannot see why. The bill is made of the kilowatt-hour price, the delivery tariff, supplier services and the consequences of their own consumption profile — and each part follows different rules.

We break that economics down to its parts and show what can change with no capital spend: contract terms, how consumption is distributed across the day, correct procurement requirements. It takes effect from the next billing period.

Only then does it make sense to calculate an investment. If the baseline cost is wrong, the payback is fiction too. Consulting sets the base everything else is measured against.

02

Who it is for

Industrial consumer

Annual electricity spend from tens of millions of hryvnia and an uneven consumption profile — this is where the structure of the bill yields the most.

City or community

Dozens of public buildings, heat and water in one balance, and the need to justify a decision to the council, a donor or a development bank.

Investor and project owner

An independent review of the model, the assumptions and the risks before committing money or submitting the project for financing.

03

Completed and current projects

Designing a power supply solution for a water utility

A water utility in Zhytomyr region, prepared for NEFCO financing. The project has been handed over for financing and delivery.

Completed

Audit of an ESCO contract

An audit of a city’s ESCO contract in Zhytomyr region. Losses were identified; amendments to the contract are under negotiation.

In progress

Investment feasibility study for the water utilities of Korosten and Zhytomyr

The project covers cost analysis and the structuring of a solution for the energy independence of the municipal utilities and for savings through modern solutions.

Hour by hour

The price of an hour varies twenty-six-fold

Heat map of average day-ahead prices by hour of the day and month, 2024

Average day-ahead price for every hour of the day and every month, August 2025 – July 2026. This is why the baseline is fixed hour by hour, not as a weighted average price.

04

Our operating principles

  • We are not tied to equipment suppliers and take no commission from them — a recommendation has no hidden agenda.
  • We calculate hour by hour: 8,760 hours a year, profile, delivery tariff, balancing, market prices. This is the methodology banks and international financial institutions use.
  • We accept no default assumptions: every number has a source, and every deviation from the methodology is recorded in the report.
  • First, whatever needs no capital. An investment is measured from the correct base, not from a desired outcome.
05

Methodology

Our expertise rests not on general claims about experience but on three specific instruments, applied in sequence on every project: 8760 digital modelling, structuring the solution under the Five Case Model Foundation methodology, and a conformity check against the ISO 50001 energy management standard. Each instrument answers its own part of the question “will this project survive an investment decision”.

01

8760 digital modelling (Digital Twin)

What it is. An hourly simulation of generation, consumption and battery operation across all 8,760 hours of the year — as opposed to the annual averages that standard analysis usually stops at.

Why it matters. Averaged models hide the critical gaps: hours without wind or sun, peak loads, grid constraints at particular times of day. Those hours, not the annual output total, determine the real economics of a hybrid wind + solar + storage project.

What it gives you.

  • An accurate cash-flow forecast instead of indicative estimates.
  • Testing of monetisation scenarios — merchant, PPA, self-consumption, BESS arbitrage.
  • An objective basis both for reviewing someone else’s project and for building our own business model.
02

Five Case Model Foundation

A methodology developed for structuring infrastructure and investment decisions across five interlinked cases. We use it as the basis for pre-investment feasibility studies.

  • Strategic case — whether the project fits the strategic objectives and the market need.
  • Economic case — comparison of alternatives and the economic value of the solution.
  • Commercial case — viability of the deal and the contract structure.
  • Financial case — availability of financing and the sources of capital.
  • Management case — the team’s capacity to deliver and the implementation plan.

The format is recognised by international financial institutions and banks, including the EBRD and NEFCO, which cuts the number of additional iterations at the investor’s due diligence stage.

03

ISO 50001 conformity

What it is. The international standard for energy management systems, which sets out the approach to improving a facility’s energy efficiency.

How we apply it. We audit the asset against the requirements of the standard and prepare recommendations for bringing its energy management into conformity.

Why an investor values it. ISO 50001 is a factor in the asset’s ESG profile: it lowers operating risk and raises the project’s liquidity on a later sale or refinancing.

How the three instruments work together

8760 modelling produces the objective numbers. The Five Case Model structures those numbers into a format an investment committee and a bank can read. ISO 50001 confirms the quality of the asset’s energy management over the long term. Together they form a single methodological basis — the same one whether we are reviewing someone else’s project or building our own business model.
